Petroc Surf Academy Makes Waves Once Again – Now Completely Free for Students

After a winter hiatus, the Petroc Surf Academy is back – and this time, it’s riding a new wave of accessibility by offering completely free sessions to all participating students.
Set against the stunning backdrop of North Devon’s renowned beaches, the Surf Academy has long been a favourite among Petroc students seeking thrills, fitness, and a strong sense of community. This year, however, the Academy is opening up its surfboards, wetsuits, and expertise without any cost to students – a move that has already sparked major excitement across campus.
The sessions will run weekly throughout the summer term, providing expert coaching, safety briefings, and all the equipment needed to get started – whether students are complete beginners or looking to improve their skills. The programme is designed to boost confidence, fitness, and mental wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on fun and inclusivity.
The academy is more than just learning to surf, It’s about giving students a unique opportunity to connect with nature, with each other, and with themselves – and removing the cost barrier makes that possible for so many more people.
