Petroc Outdoor Adventure Students Shine in Leadership Assessment Day on Exmoor

Petroc’s Outdoor Adventure students recently put their leadership skills to the test during an action-packed Leadership Assessment Day on Exmoor. The event saw them leading outdoor sessions for primary school students from Witheridge, Pilton, Beaford, and High Bickington primary schools, guiding them through a series of activities designed to build confidence and navigation skills.
Throughout the day, the Petroc students demonstrated impressive leadership, group management, and teaching abilities as they introduced the younger pupils to the fundamentals of map reading and orienteering. Their ability to engage and inspire the children while maintaining control of their groups was a testament to their training and passion for outdoor education.
Beyond the assessment day, the Outdoor Adventure students have embraced every opportunity to step outside the classroom, taking part in a range of adventurous activities across North Devon. From scaling rock faces in climbing events to tackling rugged trails on mountain bikes and mastering the art of orienteering, they have fully immersed themselves in hands-on learning experiences that hone their skills in real-world environments.
This commitment to practical learning and leadership development highlights the strength of Petroc’s Outdoor Adventure program in preparing students for future careers in outdoor education and adventure sports. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work and dedication, and we look forward to seeing them continue to thrive in their outdoor pursuits!
