The course encompasses the Technical Diploma in Digital Technology;

Mandatory Units (Core Units)
Unit 1: Digital Devices
This unit provides an understanding of digital devices, including their role, components, and how they work together in various contexts (e.g., personal, business, and education).
Unit 2: Using Digital Devices and Software
Focuses on using different digital devices, software, and applications. The goal is to enable learners to apply digital skills effectively in real-life scenarios.
Unit 3: The Online World
Covers the fundamentals of the internet, social media, online services, and digital security. It looks at how the digital world impacts communication, business, and social interaction.
Unit 4: Digital Skills for Work
This unit focuses on developing skills that are essential for the workplace, including using productivity software, communication tools, and project management tools in a digital environment.
Unit 5: Digital Design and Development
Introduces learners to the principles of digital design, including creating and modifying digital content (such as graphics, websites, and media) using appropriate software and techniques.

Assessments

Assessment will be through a variety of methods which could include practical activities, written activities or externally assessed content.

Entry Requirements

All entrants must hold four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent (or above), including GCSE Maths and English. If you do not have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English you will continue studying these subjects alongside your chosen course(s). At the end of the year, you are expected to have completed and achieved all the components of your Level 2 Study Programme and improved your Maths and English skills before progressing to your next level course.

If you don’t yet have a GCSE grade 4 in Maths and/or English, don’t worry – you’ll continue to develop these essential skills alongside your chosen course(s). By the end of the year, you’ll have successfully completed all elements of your Level 2 Study Programme, with improved Maths and English abilities, setting you up for success as you progress to the next level of your studies.

Progression

Upon successfully completing this course, you’ll be ready to take the next big step in your digital journey by advancing to our Level 3 Digital T-Level, unlocking even more exciting opportunities in the world of digital technologies.

You’ll primarily be taught in state-of-the-art computing rooms, each equipped with modern, networked PCs – one for every student. Our IT ‘super rooms’ feature high-performance i7 computers with stunning high-resolution displays, perfect for all your computing and design work. With access to Creative Cloud and a wide range of professional applications, you’ll have everything you need to bring your ideas to life.

– Maths and English Language development – if you have not achieved GCSE grade 4 in either of these subjects.
